SEOUL, Feb. 16-Every soldier of the 60th
Ord. Gp. is participating enthusiastically in the Armed Forces Aid to
Korea program aiding orphanages and hospitals in the Seoul area, Eighth
Army said today. Recently members of the 60th visited the
St. Paul's Convent and Orphanage to distribute clothing, toys and blankets
to the 109 girls in the residence. Earlier, four tons of charcoal had
been delivered to the orphanage and AFAK materials made available to
help complete a new dormitory.
Over the past several months, the Ordnance men have
delivered 2,150 pounds of clothing, playground equipment, 120 cases
of canned milk, textbooks and five tons of charcoal to the Seoul City
Sanitarium.
AFAK Gifts
An industrial shop, nurses quarters and water system
have been supplied to this institution through AFAK gifts from the 60th.
At Christmas, the men gave a party at which every child received a new
pair of shoes, candy, cookies, hot chocolate and other gifts. Last
week a third truckload of wood was delivered to the Christian Mission
in Seoul. Four tons of charcoal have been given the mission this winter.
Other Seoul institutions to benefit from the Ordnance
men's generosity are Severance and Seoul City Hospitals, Mu Mak Public
School, and Kyung Dong, Myung Jin and Mu Mak Presbyterian churches.
Col. W.R. Huber, San Antonio, Tex., commanding officer, has pledged
his unit will render any type of assistance within its capabilities
to any orphanage or welfare institution that needs it.
