Tough Sergeant Babies Orphan on Trip Home

PITTSBURGH, July 24 (UP)-A 2 ½ year old Korean War orphan arrived here yesterday in the arms of a tough sergeant who volunteered for an 8,000 mile babysitting chore from Tokyo.  Air Force Sgt. Saul Valphern, who said he never had handled a baby before, handed Florence, to her foster mother, Mrs. Guy Boyd, of Huntington, W. Va., at greater Pittsburgh airport.

Valphern's only complaint was that he "had to put on another uniform" every time the little girl needed a diaper change.

Mrs. Boyd, 29, said her husband, a sergeant now stationed in Tokyo, had been waiting for more than two years to adopt the little girl.  Mrs. Boyd, mother of an 11year old son, said her husband adopted the little girl from her mother during the Korean War.
