"Dotty" (Kim Kum Soun), the mascot of K Company, 7th Cavalry hugs one of her GI friends before she is put aboard a truck to be taken to an orphanage in Taegu. Dotty was one of many mascots transferred from the 1st Cavalry Division to an orphanage in "Operation Mascot". Caplains of the 1st Cavalry convinced the troops that separation from their mascots was inevitable and that the best interest of the children would be served by sending them to Christian institutions away from the fighting front. The soldiers collected an average of $300 for each child to ensure their education at the orphanage. 51-9426
