Pacific Stars &
Stripes, Nov. 7,1953
HQ, FEAF, Tokyo, Nov. 7- One ton of Christmas gifts
for the orphans of Pusan was flown to Korea recently on a U.S. Air
Force 374th Troop Carrier Wing C-124 Globemaster, along with a regular
shipment of military cargo.
The gifts, from Alabama citizens, had been airlifted
from Alabama across the Pacific by Military Air Transport Service.
Capt. William G. Vest, Ashland, Ky., was pilot
of the Korean airlift 315th Air Division Globemaster.
The Korean airlift also resumed the movement by
air of hydroponic vegetables from the U.S. Army Farm at Chofu near
Tokyo, yesterday, delivering 14 tons of lettuce and Swiss chard to
Seoul for U.N.C. troops.
The fresh vegetable lift, an important phase of
cargo operations earlier this year, had been temporarily halted because
of higher priority commitments and reduced by flying hours.
