Church Women Sew Clothes for Orphans

CAMP YOKOHAMA, Oct. 15 - Many Japanese and Korean orphans will have warm winter clothing this year because of the unending and untiring efforts of the Catholic Women's Guild of Yokohama.  With cloth purchased by money raised by the guild's monthly bingo parties, suits, shirts, dresses and underwear are furnished to all the orphanages including the Lepresorium, Gora, Sacred Heart and Fujisawa.

Originally, the group, consisting of five Japanese and five American women, began sewing with materials supplied and sent here by various U.S. charitable organizations and distributed by the Red Cross.  These first articles consisted mainly of infant clothing, including diapers.  Another of the major items was utility bags for the newly arrived American soldiers.
