Yank Adopts 135 Orphans

HQ., U.S. 24TH DIV., Korea-A KMAG soldier has adopted 135 Korean War orphans here.  PFC Don Vinkemulder, who has no family of his own, made a contribution of $300 to the 34th Inf. Regt.'s Orphanage Fund.  The fund has been established to provide housing for the 135 orphans.

When Vinkemulder arrived in Korea in March, he decided to assist needy Koreans with his savings.  A Korean chaplain in his KMAG detachment referred him to Chaplain (Maj.) Cassius M. Ellis, 34th regimental chaplain, who is in charge of the campaign.  The fund was started by a $3,500 contribution from the 34th's NCO Open Mess.  The orphanage is expected to cost $12,500.
