A Trip to Brooklyn Via Tape Recorder

SFC 'Taking' ROK Children's Choir to U.S.

INCHON, Korea (IMP) - A soldier-student minister here is taking the voices of a Korean children's choir with him when he returns home for Christmas leave in Brooklyn, N.Y. this month.

SFC Michael J. McLaughlin, First Sergeant of the 866th Trans. Co. here at the 21st Trans. Post., who has just re-enlisted for a three year tour of duty, is going to preserve the voice of the children's choir at the Korean Baptist Orphanage.

McLaughlin has purchased a recorder and taped the choir's repertoire of songs, hymns and carols prior to a trip to the States where they will perform by proxy.

The sergeant will make a tour of churches during his leave and will use the children's recorded voices to raise funds for the orphanage.

So before "Sergeant Mac" (as he is known to the children at the orphanage) returns to his unit here next February, many Brooklynites will have listened to the fervent clear voices of a children's choir sing "Silent Night" and "Come All Ye Faithful."
