ONE-MAN POWER water wheel brings ocean brine
to salt fields. As this youth at left climbs the endless ladder
of the water wheel, sea water is sloshed into the desired field
at the salterns to begin the evaporation processing into salt.
Boys of the orphanage demonstrated operation of their salterns
during 10th birthday ceremonies.
