During his brief association with American troops,
young Kim Byong Chol managed to pick up a smattering of English.
Enough, anyway, to get by. Then he was “adopted” as
a mascot by the 2 Spanish-speaking Borinqueneers of the 65th Infantry
(Puerto Rican) Regiment, 3rd Division, and the Korean youth found
himself confronted by another language barrier. He’s learning
rapidly, though, thanks to the patient tutelage of Sgt. Efrain Acevedo-Ingles
(center), of Mayaguez, P.R., and Sgt. Juan Gonzalez-Rivera (right),
of San Lorenzo, P.R.
