The Kiddy Car Airlift Photographs

These historical photographs of the Kiddy Car Airlift were taken on the morning of 20 December 1950 by U.S Air Force photographers as the trucks bearing the children arrived from Inchon. Note the light snow on the ground. The 16 planes had waited over one hour until the trucks bearing the children arrived with Chaplain Russell L. Blaisdell and S/Sgt. Merle Y. (Mike) Strang, his assistant. These photographs were acquired at the U.S. National Archives in College Park, Md, the archives of the Pacific Stars and Stripes in Tokyo, Japan, from the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio and from the files of Chaplain Russell L. Blaisdell, USAF, Retired..
